Hi! I’m Claire
I'm living proof that it IS possible to find a career that balances with motherhood. That it's never too late to pivot your career. And that it's never too late to find what you were meant to do.

I remember how stuck and overwhelmed I felt when I found myself at a career crossroad a couple of years ago. I knew deep down my job at the time wasn’t totally right for me and I couldn't see myself doing it for the next 20 years. If I was being totally honest with myself, I'd never found a career that I was truly passionate about.

And once I'd had children my priorities changed, as long as I could work flexibly around caring for them, I didn't mind too much what I was doing. But then I got to the point where my children were beginning to need me less. I started panicking that I would never find my true passion or  sense of purpose.

It felt like there was a missing puzzle piece. I always knew that I wanted to be a mum but what about when the time came for them to fly the nest. It was a way off still but I felt like I needed to start future proofing now.

I'm guessing you're here because you're experiencing something similar.

You're feeling unhappy and unfulfilled in your job. You desperately want to change career direction but you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed and like it’s too late in your life to do anything to change it.

You might have an idea about what you could do next but the relentless family admin makes you feel like you're on a treadmill that never slows down – leaving you with no time for yourself. So how exactly are you supposed to find the time to fit this into your life too?

Believe me, I get it.

I understand what it feels like when you can't see a way out or a different path to follow. Like it's too late in your life to change career direction. Like what you're looking for is  impossible anyway - a career that you're passionate about but that works flexibly around the kids too. Surely that's like asking for the moon on a stick?

I'm telling you that it's not.

But it takes time and inward reflection to figure it out. No one can tell you what to do or give you the answers. Because no one knows you like you!

My advice to you is this:

⚡Start changing your mindset.

⚡Start prioritising yourself.

⚡Start investing in yourself.

I know how hard it is to prioritise yourself when you're a mum. You're always juggling a million different things and you're so used to putting your family first that your happiness becomes an after thought.

But I'm here to tell you that it IS possible. And believe me, it's worth it.

It was only when I made the decision to  invest in myself that my mindset changed. I realised I couldn't do it on my own anymore so I took the plunge and looked into getting a Career and Life Coach.

It was only then that I had that lightning bolt moment – I didn’t just want to be on the receiving end of coaching, I wanted to BE a coach! It ticked all my boxes. My intuition told me to go for it and I haven't looked back since.

I'm now a fully qualified Career and Life Coach with an  ILM Level 5 Diploma in Coaching. I launched Lightning Bolt Coaching to help other mums who are navigating their identity beyond being a mum and to help them get the clarity and direction they need about their next career steps.

The best thing about my job is knowing that I’m genuinely helping transform people’s lives.  I love seeing their confidence and self-belief sky rocket, and watching them start to break down the barriers that are getting in their way of achieving their goals and reaching their full potential.

But don’t take my word for it, here’s what my clients have to say about how my coaching has helped them.

WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY ABOUT MY COACHING STYLE

ANON.

"Claire creates a very welcoming and friendly space and is superb at guiding productive conversations. Each session is thoughtfully structured and well researched and she is masterful at encouragement and building confidence."

AMY

"For so long in my life I’ve been afraid to move forward and embrace who I am. As an autistic person I’m a chronic overthinker and often find it hard to connect to supportive people and processes but Claire created such a warm and open and non judgmental space, I felt at ease at once."

ELLIE

"I loved working with you, you were so supportive and helpful. I really enjoyed all our sessions and came out with a much clearer view of not only what I wanted to do with my career for now, but how to work on problems in the future to develop myself.

You are clearly a natural empath and understand people well and are easy to open up to. You listen brilliantly and ask the right questions to draw things out of people."

Why work with me?

My career journey has spanned PR and copywriting, recruitment and coaching – I use that blend of experience to support you on the whole of your career transformation journey.

A bit more about me

What’s the name about?

  • Lightning bulb moments are nice but lightning bolt moments are a bit more ‘wow’ aren’t they?!

  • I want to help connect you with what lights you up, and then be your guiding light through your journey of self-discovery.

  • Claire means ‘light’ in French.

  • I love David Bowie.

  • I have a worrying obsession with Scamp and Dude and any clothing or accessories with lightning bolts on them!

What's your coaching style like?

Warm, supportive, intuitive and challenging. My Superpower is my ability to connect and build rapport easily with others. This enables my clients to feel able to talk openly, reflect deeply and be prepared to have their ways of thinking challenged – which is where the magic happens!

What lights you up?

I live in Kent with my husband and two children (aged 10 and 8). I love good food and wine, country walks (only if followed by a pub lunch), travelling, running, and curling up with a good film or series. I’m also partial to a bit of Karaoke (understatement), a pub quiz (just the music round) and, randomly, love an arm wrestling competition!

What are your values?

My core values are connection, love, freedom, fun and respect.
